Adoption Knowledge Affiliates 20th Anniversary Conference is less than two months away! We are so proud of the caliber and diversity of the workshops offered at this year’s conference and have worked hard to include topics relevant to all adoption-triad members. Friday afternoon will feature a new option to choose from the “infant adoption” track or the “older child adoption track.” Saturday afternoon gives four different choices of workshops during each break-out session. Without a doubt, regardless of where you come from in the triad or in your journey with adoption, there is something for you at this year’s AKA conference!
The 2012 Conference Committee has been nothing short of amazing. Myself- Robyn Gobbel- is serving as conference chair to a committed group of AKA members. Ashley Waggoner- AKA’s administrative assistant- holds AKA together with everything she does, and the conference is no different. Janie Cravens has spent an enormous amount of time solidifying details, topics, and talks. Rory Hall, Erin Smith, Leia Deyle, and Sally Fussell rounds out this dedicated team. I can’t say “THANK YOU” enough and you’ll likely hear me reference the committee again…and again…and again. They deserve it!
If you haven’t attended an AKA conference in the past, this is absolutely the year to check us out. Austin, TX is a diverse and exciting city, and the weather in November is usually one of our first glances at fall. Every year, new guests comment on how impressed they are with the conference- the content, the organization, and the friendliness of everyone associated with AKA. It’s a weekend that guarantees to “fill your cup” and we hope you’ll choose to share it with us this November.
